Kenya: KCB Gives Sh520,000 ICU Machines to Nyeri Hospital

The KENYA Commercial Bank has donated two ICU machines valued at Sh520,000 to the Nyeri Provincial General Hospital. The KCB Group and the KCB Foundation made the donation last weekend during the first round of the KCB Kenya National Rally Championships (KNRC) series which kicked off in Nyeri town on Saturday. “Under its corporate social responsibility programme, the bank through the KCB Foundation invests in community initiatives in all the localities where the rallies take place in Kenya and the East African region. The KCB Foundation also invests in community initiatives focusing on education, environment, enterprise development, health and humanitarian assistance,” said the group chairman Peter Muthoka.

Last October, the KCB Foundation donated a dialysis machine to the Consolata Mission Hospital in Nyeri. “Once installed, the machine will assist patients on dialysis treatment who are often forced to skip treatment sessions due to the long queues. This year, the bank has set aside Sh 20 million to equip various provincial hospitals in Kenya with dialysis machines to complement government efforts to bring quality healthcare to the people,” said the KCB Group director and Foundation chairperson, Susan OmangaOther health projects that KCB supports include the Mater Hospital cardiac programme that helps children from needy families to get expensive and complex heart surgery and treatment.

The bank also partners with Gertrude’s Children’s Hospital to host children’s medical camps in the rural areas where health centres are not easily accessible. KCB is also supporting jigger treatment camps in partnership with Ahadi Kenya to help eradicate the jigger menace in villages across the country.
