Cairo criminal court under counselor Ahmed Rifaat Tuesday 3/1/2012 listens to pleas by the public prosecution in the trial of former President Mubarak and his interior minister Habib el Adli and six of his aides in the case of killing demonstrators during the January 25 revolution.
By these pleas, trial will enter into a critical stage.
In its pleas, the public prosecution will address the indictment evidences in the case of killing demonstrators exporting gas to Israel and abuse of power.
Cairo Criminal Court under presiding judge Ahmed Rifaat finished on Monday 2/1/2012 listening to requests of the defense team of former president Hosni Mubarak, his two sons, Alaa and Gamal, fugitive businessman Hussein Salem, former interior minister Habib el-Adli and six of his senior aides.
Plaintiff lawyers asked for summoning Counselor Assam al-Gohari, Assistant Justice Minister for Illict Gains Authority, to question him over graft charges filed against the defendants.
They also asked for bringing the video footages shot by Al Jazeera, Alhurra, Al-Arabiya and ON TV channels showing policemen’s heavy-handed treatment of peaceful protesters during the January revolution.
They also want the prosecution to submit to the court panel the final medical report on Mubarak’s health to see whether he can now stand in the dock or continue to be wheeled into it.
The plaintiff lawyers asked for keeping Mubarak in Tora jail instead of the World Medical Centre on Cairo-Ismailia highway where he has been receiving treatment since the beginning of his trial, saying bringing Mubarak to the trial venue every time costs the State treasury LE 500,000.
