Valencia’s Jonas: I hope 2012 will be remembered as a year of achievements

Valencia striker Jonas says that he hopes 2012 will prove to be a successful year for his side.

Speaking on the eve of Los Che’s Copa del Rey encounter with Sevilla on Monday, the 27-year-old said he is looking forward to the second part of the season with great optimism, on both a personal and collective level.

“It’s a different year, I hope it’s a year of achievements and we win a title. I want to continue doing things right,” said Jonas, according to MARCA.

“I’m very happy here and I want to finish the season with the goals accomplished. I want to add more goals and assists and collaborate more with my team-mates.”

Jonas then concentrated on Valencia’s trophy tilt once the winter break runs its course, where he spoke of his side’s intentions of winning the national cup competition and the Europa League come the end of the campaign.

“We know that it will be difficult, and we are under no illusions about [what is needed to win] the Copa del Rey,” continued the former Gremio forward.

“Sevilla are a tough team with lots of quality, but we want to start the year with a win.

“In the Champions League we were a little frustrated, but we will go for the Europa League.”

Kick-off at Mestalla on Tuesday is scheduled for 17.00CET.
