Tanzania versus Uganda Uganda played Tanzania in a tough match at the National Stadium in Dar es Salaam

Uganda and Rwanda clinched their places in the final of the Cecafa Senior Challenge Cup thanks to their semi-final victories on Thursday.

Rwanda survived a scare to beat Sudan 2-1 in the game in Dar-es-Salam.

Uganda shattered Tanzania hopes of celebrating their 50th anniversary on Friday in style as the Cranes defeated the hosts 3-1 after extra-time.

They will play Rwanda in Saturday’s final of East and Central Africa’s regional tournament.

But it was Tanzania who dominated their game against Uganda and took the lead in the 17th minute when Mrisho Ngassa was put through by Mwinyi Kazimoto.

Ngassa raced through the Ugandan defence before beating goalkeeper Abby Dhaira for the opener.

Five minutes later Tanzanian goalkeeper Juma Kaseja produced as fantastic save after Godfrey Walusimbi fired from the edge of the box.

The Cranes drew level after the break when Walusimbi’s corner kick was headed in by captain Andy Mwesigwa.

Both sides failed to score pushing the game into extra-time before Emmanuel Okwi and Isack Sinde sealed the victory.

Uganda coach Bobby Williamson was delighted with the victory insisting they switched their style of play to secure the victory.

“We changed the system and we played long balls. That’s how we managed to win. Rwanda is an important game and we will prepare for it,” Williamson said.

Rwanda shocked Sudan – the only side in the competition to play in next year’s Africa Cup of Nations – with goals from Jean Claude Iranzi and Olivier Karekezi.
