The 2012 Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has sent a congratulatory message to all farmers and fishermen on the occasion of the National farmer’s day.
The NPP flagbearer acknowledged the hard work and unflinching commitment of farmers over the years, “we are indeed proud of your good works and congratulate every one of you on this day as you continue to hold the fortunes of our nation in your hands.”
Nana Addo stressed the need for the transformation and modernisation of Ghana’s agriculture to enhance productivity and guarantee food security and self-sufficiency. This, Nana Addo said, are the vital issues of our time.“With the necessary support and incentives, I am confident that the Ghanaian farmer will be up to the task,” Nana Addo charged.
He stated that despite the fact that growth target of the agricultural sector was not met, he was still confident in the ability of the Ghanaian farmer to turn the dire situation around.
Nana Addo congratulated all award winners in this year’s national Best Farmers Day Awards and hoped that their exploits and achievements in the coming years would be an inspiration for others to the benefit of the Ghanaian people.
