Kristin Chenoweth is ready to start a family, but the singer-actress is also doing just fine on her own.
“I’d love to have a husband to have a child with,” Chenoweth, 43, tells the January issue of Prevention. “It hasn’t exactly worked out that way, and that’s okay.”
“I would still love to have that partner, that man – that right one who’s going to take care of me yet let me do my thing, yet has his own gig going on, yet isn’t intimidated!” she adds.
For now, Chenoweth has a different kind of baby: a Maltese named Maddie. She constantly travels with her tiny pup and is so devoted to the Maltese that she founded the charity Maddie’s Corner in her name.
“Show business can make you so self-focused, even if you’re not that kind of person,” Chenoweth adds. “Since I wasn’t married and didn’t have a child, I needed something to take care of. So I got a dog.”
Since getting that dog, Chenoweth has helped numerous homeless animals through Maddie’s Corner, which supports shelters and groups. One such group, Karma Rescue, provided the puppies featured on Prevention‘s cover with Chenoweth. All the Staffordshire terrier-Lab mix pups have since found homes, but their mother, Elizabeth, is still available for adoption.
