Minister of Energy Emmanuel Armah Kofi Buah is warning officials of TICO, they would be held accountable for unacceptable engineering mistakes on T2 power plant.

His warning comes after experts working on the T2 power plant at the Aboadze Thermal revealed the units are down because engineers misassembled parts during a recent routine maintenance exercise.

The team of senior engineers from UK based Wood Group working on the plant currently says the planned repair works for the T2 will be completed by July 1.

The 210 MW power plant is currently producing only a 100 MW and the current load shedding exercise is largely as a result of the ongoing repair works on the TICO and VRA plants at the Aboadze enclave.

Mr. Armah Kofi Buah who visited the plent’z zite told Nana Osafo Kantanka Adjei, the Managing Director at T2, someone would have to be held accountable.

He revealed how the misassembling has affected power supply in the country, which he said is unacceptable and therefore, ‘somebody should be held to accountThat is the level we are so we are going to do that’.

Nana Osafo Kantanka Adjei promised the Minister, going forward, the contractual agreement between the government of Ghana and the Wood Group will be reconsidered, after the challenges at T2 have been addressed.
