Black Coffee has to be one of the best DJ\u2019s that has come out of South Africa. The deep house DJ has really put South African deep house music in the map.<\/p>\n

The talented muso is currently traveling on his summer tour and in June welcomed his fourth child into the world and now he graces the August cover of Mixmag, which is the world\u2019s biggest selling music magazine.<\/p>\n

In his interview Black Coffee opens up about how his musical journey began: \u201cI knew I wanted to be an international DJ from a very early age.\u00a0And even before that it was always my dream to be recognised worldwide, even if I wasn\u2019t quite sure how. My life at that time was very removed from the reality of this idea of course, but that was the conversation I used to have privately with myself, and with God.\u201d<\/p>\n

We must say that most of his dreams have certainly become a reality and that\u2019s why he\u2019s currently traveling the world to showcase his talent.<\/p>\n

On what keeps such a talented and successful DJ motivated, Black had this to say: \u201cYou know, living in the rural areas and the city has been a blessing in the way they have helped me understand and respect all kinds of people. I drive on the freeway in South Africa and see these guys in their work vans, and think to myself: I have been that guy.\u201d<\/p>\n

He continues by adding: \u201cBut nowadays I\u2019m driving home from playing a gig where I make a month\u2019s salary in an hour, and that pushes me. That\u2019s what drives me. The struggling people are the ones who inspire me, the ones who have nothing.\u201d<\/p>\n

Well there you have it, even those that are at the very top still need a little motivation to keep them going.<\/p>\n
