{"id":270777,"date":"2026-01-26T07:10:00","date_gmt":"2026-01-26T07:10:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/news.ghanamma.com\/za\/2026\/01\/26\/madlanga-commission-resumes-this-week-with-witnesses-including-senona-set-to-testify\/"},"modified":"2026-01-26T07:10:00","modified_gmt":"2026-01-26T07:10:00","slug":"madlanga-commission-resumes-this-week-with-witnesses-including-senona-set-to-testify","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/za\/2026\/01\/26\/madlanga-commission-resumes-this-week-with-witnesses-including-senona-set-to-testify\/","title":{"rendered":"Madlanga Commission resumes this week with witnesses including Senona set to testify"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/news.ghanamma.com\/za\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/968&#038;operation=CROP&#038;offset=0x31&#038;resize=968x545.jpg\" class=\"type:primaryImage\"><\/p>\n<p>The Madlanga Commission is expected to resume its first public hearing for 2026 on Monday, with two new witnesses due to take the stand on Monday.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) Hawks head Major-General, Lesetja Senona, is expected to be back on the hot seat on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>Senona was expected to testify last month; however, shortly after his appearance, an agreement was reached that he would appear before the commission in January.<\/p>\n<p>Senona has been accused by the commission of aiding alleged criminal kingpin Vusimusi \u201cCAT\u201d Matlala in securing a R360-million SAPS contract.<\/p>\n<p>His testimony comes after the testimony of the suspended police minister, Senzo Mchunu regarding the disbandment of the Political Killings Task Team (PKTT).<\/p>\n<p>In a statement, the commission said it was expecting dozens of witnesses to testify over the next few months as the commission continues its inquiry.<\/p>\n<p>The commission was established by President Cyril Ramaphosa following corruption and infiltration of the judiciary allegations by KZN Police commissioner, Lt-Gen.
