The IFP Youth Brigade is calling for the ouster of all EFF councillors holding positions in municipalities across KwaZulu-Natal.<\/p>\n
The Youth Brigade has called for a motion of no confidence to be put forward against all EFF councillors currently occupying municipal positions in the province in retaliation for the EFF’s support for the motion of no confidence vote against the premier of KwaZulu-Natal, Thami Ntuli.<\/p>\n
The premier is set to face a motion of no confidence on Monday.<\/p>\n
In a statement, the Youth Brigade stated it took issue with the stance of EFF leader Julius Malema who argued that the MK Party, which brought the motion, is the majority party in the province and should be allowed to form a government as it is the majority party in the province.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Inkatha Freedom Party Youth Brigade (IFPYB) in KwaZulu-Natal calls on EFF leader Julius Malema to desist from misleading the public and from creating false expectations for the MK Party in KwaZulu-Natal. Malema made factually incorrect claims that the MK Party constitutes the majority in the KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Legislature.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe must remind Mr Malema of basic political reality: If the MK Party were a majority in KwaZulu-Natal, they would be leading the government, not sitting as the official opposition. Their status as the official opposition automatically means that the Government of Provincial Unity (GPU) is the majority governing formation in the province.<\/p>\n
\u201cFor further clarity, a majority requires 50% plus one of the total vote. The people of KwaZulu-Natal did not give any single party such a mandate. Instead, the electorate indicated their preference for a collaborative and stable provincial administration, which is why the IFP, ANC, DA, and NFP came together to form the Government of Provincial Unity.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn light of the EFF\u2019s opportunistic behaviour, the IFP Youth Brigade in KwaZulu-Natal is calling on all IFP councillors across municipalities to table motions of no confidence against all EFF councillors currently occupying positions in local government,\u201d said the statement.<\/p>\n
