Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi has mentioned senior political figures allegedly meddling in investigations.<\/p>\n<div class=\"iframeWrapper\"><\/div>\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"baobab-embedded-image\" src=\"https:\/\/image-prod.iol.co.za\/resize\/650x65000?source=https:\/\/iol-prod.appspot.com\/image\/2dff285b015b9c31eeef38150b2c85c248ca1f45\/4032\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"650\"><figcaption>This is a WhatsApp message that Brown Mogotsi sent to the suspended Police Minister, Senzo Mchunu, urging to call the shots on Lt-Gen. Dumisani Khumalo. <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>During a media briefing in July 6, Mkhwanazi said Mchunu ordered the disbandment of the PKTT and organised crime in the province.<\/p>\n<p>Mchunu issued a letter to Masemola in December 2024, calling for the immediate disbandment of the PKTT.<\/p>\n<p>He alleged the directive, was made under pressure from associates including controversial businessman Vuzimusi \u201cCat\u201d Matlala, who has been arrested for attempted murder, and alleged political informant Brown Mogotsi.<\/p>\n<p>These claims, raised by multiple witnesses during earlier hearings, prompted his temporary suspension and intensified pressure on the commission to interrogate potential political contamination of law-enforcement structures.<\/p>\n<p>The commission, established to examine whether senior government and police officials manipulated policing processes for personal or political gain, has heard weeks of evidence pointing to alleged obstruction, intimidation and the possible shielding of criminal actors.<\/p>\n<p>Mchunu has consistently denied wrongdoing through his legal representatives.<\/p>\n<p>He also denied the allegations during his testimony at the Parliament\u2019s Ad Hoc committee last month.<\/p>\n<p><strong>kamogelo.moichela@iol.co.za<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong> Politics<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Suspended Police Minister Senzo Mchunu continued his testimony at the Madlanga Commission on Thursday afternoon.
