Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi has expressed admiration for the late anti-apartheid struggle stalwart and former Foreign Affairs Minister Aziz Pahad, describing him as a leader who championed the country\u2019s transition to democracy.<\/p>\n
Pahad was laid to rest at the Westpark Cemetery on Saturday next to his brother, Essop Pahad who passed away just two months ago.<\/p>\n
Pahad was an anti-apartheid activist who fought against apartheid for decades.<\/p>\n
Addressing the funeral, Lesufi praised Pahad\u2019s efforts and tireless work to bring peace, stability, and reconciliation to the country.<\/p>\n
\u201cEven though we are saddened by his death, we are proud of his work and we declare that what we used to cherish has left us,\u201d he said. Lesufi said it was difficult to bid goodbye to the leader who shaped the country and brought change.<\/p>\n
Although Pahad left them with a bigger task ahead to make sure that they continue with his legacy, Lesufi mentioned that they will continue to cherish what he had achieved during his tenure in the government to ensure that the country can maintain what he offered.<\/p>\n
\u201cOurs is to cherish, and appreciate your work and services that you provided to us. We will continue with your legacy.<\/p>\n
