The White’s only Town of Orania has come into the Spotlight recently for their controversial nature, and many people are asking should a Whites only town exist. However, the reality of the situation is that it already does exist and it may not be as small as we thought it was. Here are two major projects that this town has been working on recently.<\/p>\n

Just under a week ago, the town had said that first phase of their solar farm project was already completed. This would awaken one third of Oranias households energy needs. This is major as it means that they will not be completely reliant on Eskom and have their own electricity systems in place. However it doesn’t stop there.<\/p>\n
Today they announced that their new sewage plant, which is set to cost an estimated eight million rand, will be completely independent of Eskom. The first phase of this sewage plant can serve approximately three thousand people but can be expanded to serve ten thousand people.<\/p>\n

These two major projects show us that Orania is not as small as we may think they are, in fact their planning to serve at least three thousand people, if not more.<\/p>\n
They are also making more improvements to their town independently than we see in other small towns in South Africa. I believe that it won’t be long before Orania becomes one of the best cities in the Country. Which is a problem when many people of color won’t get an opportunity to live in it.<\/p>\n

In the future I do hope that things change, and that Orania can expand to allow all people of color into their town. As they exist in a country with large number of different races and cultures.<\/p>\n
