The most beautiful Shacks In South Africa that shook us

- Advertisement -

The most common kind of informal settlements in South Africa has been shacks for decades, and since 1994, we have seen a tremendous increase in the number of people who have moved into these areas across the country.

Different parts of the country refer to them by different nicknames. It is known as “umkhukhu” in Johannesburg, and “ibobosi” in Cape Town, while it is referred to as a “ipozi” and a “igali” in East London…whatever you call it depends on where you live, but I’m sure you have seen or heard of a shack at some point in your life!

Poor individuals who cannot afford to buy or build brick houses are the majority owners of shacks, and as a result, some people consider them to be filthy and of low social standing.

I’d be delighted if I could show you the most stunning shacks in Mzansi. Would you believe that when you step inside some shacks, they don’t even appear like shacks?

Once you’ve seen these photographs, you’ll never look at shacks in the same way again;
