A 25-year-old woman was killed outside Blue Downs Magistrate’s Court in Cape Town on Monday afternoon.
Western Cape police said Mfuleni police are investigating the circumstances surrounding a shooting incident in which a female was shot and fatally wounded in Bentley Road, Blue Downs, at around midday.
It is understood that the woman was returning from the court and walking to her car when she came under fire.
The car, a red VW Polo, had been peppered with bullets.
Police spokesperson Sergeant Wesley Twigg said police members responded to a complaint of a shooting, and upon arrival on the scene, they found the victim inside a vehicle with gunshot wounds to her body.
“The victim was declared deceased on the scene by medical personnel. The motive for the attack forms part of the police investigation, and arrests are yet to be made.”
Twigg said a murder case is being investigated.
