This year has been a whirlwind for celebrity couples in South Africa, with juicy stories, romance and a sprinkle of drama keeping fans on the edge of their seats.

Let’s dive into the lives of some of our favourite stars and how their love affairs have captivated the nation this year.

Black Coffee and Victoria Gonzalez.

Famous DJ Black Coffee has been the talk of the town, not just for his amazing music, but also for his love life. This year, he found himself under the spotlight with Victoria Gonzalez, his Venezuelan-born model girlfriend, especially due to his very public and messy divorce from actress Enhle Mbali.

The timeline sparked lots of chatter, with fans wondering if Black Coffee’s romance with Gonzalez started before he and Mbali separated.

The couple also shared posts hinting that they have been romantically involved since 2019, the same year Black Coffee’s separation from Mbali was made public.

This raised intense scrutiny among fans, with some questioning whether the DJ’s relationship with Gonzalez overlapped with his marriage to Mbali and if it supported past claims of infidelity.

Eyes were also on the couple for their “luxe summer adventure” as they travelled through Europe, including places like Ibiza and Mykonos, with Gonzalez sharing glimpses of their lavish holidays and expressing their affection for each other on social media.

Sarah Langa, 32, and Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu, 23, have encountered much social media backlash for their relationship’s nine-year age difference.

Influencer Sarah Langa and Springboks player Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu’s relationship stirred up quite the buzz this year.

The two were under a magnifying glass due to constant dating rumours, which Sacha has repeatedly denied, claiming he was “100% not dating” and barely knew her, having only met her a short time prior through his brother.

Despite Feinberg-Mngomezulu’s denial, rumours continued to circulate that they were inseparable, had spent holidays together and were seen embracing one another.

Adding fuel to the fire is their age gap, as Sarah is 32 while Sacha is 23.

Anele Mdoda and her husband, Buzza James, embracing in Munich.

The relationship between award-winning TV and radio presenter Anele Mdoda and Bonelela “Buzza” James, who is said to be a Xhosa prince and lawyer, was a major headline-grabber this year.

Mdoda officially said “I do” to Buzza in a private, traditional Xhosa ceremony in April.

Following the ceremony, there was confusion because Mdoda said on her radio show on 947 that the event was the “final celebration, the final instalment of lobola” and that they were still just “engaged”, not formally married yet.

In November, the two tied the knot in an ultra-private white wedding ceremony in Cape Town.

Guests were reportedly banned from using their phones to prevent videos and photos from being shared online without the couple’s consent, as was the case during their traditional wedding ceremony.

Former Miss SA, Natasha Joubert and her now-husband had fans obsessing over them this year because of two massive life events: their wedding and the subsequent baby announcement.

The couple, who were together for over eight years before getting engaged, finally tied the knot in an intimate ceremony in Cape Town in March.

Joubert kept fans in the know by sharing snippets of her bridal showers and the rehearsal dinner on social media.

When the details, including her gown reveal and a tear-jerker video of the Cape Winelands ceremony, were eventually shared, the event was dubbed the “Wedding of the Decade” by fans.

In October, the couple made a joint announcement on social media that they were expecting a baby. The announcement included a video revealing Joubert’s baby bump and explained that they had kept the pregnancy a secret for five months to ensure everything was well, including anatomy scans, before going public.

Joubert also shared that the experience had been challenging “mentally, physically and psychologically”.

Recently, they revealed that they are expecting a baby girl, which was followed by a dreamy baby shower, with multi-media personality, Bonang Matheba, among the guests.

Former Miss Universe Zozibini Tunzi and Luthando Bolowana tied the knot on March 22, in a picturesque white wedding ceremony held in the Cape Winelands.

The event screamed opulence with Tunzi’s gown, designed by Vietnamese designer Phan Huy and taking over 700 hours to create, and the opulent black-tie dress code for the guests made headlines.

Just a week later, they celebrated their union with a traditional Xhosa wedding ceremony in Tunzi’s home village in the Eastern Cape. Both ceremonies were attended by A-listers including Connie Ferguson, Nomzamo Mbatha and Anele Mdoda.

The private moments they shared have captivated their fans, who have been eager to know more about Zozibini’s romantic life.
