Born and raised in Hammarsdale, KwaZulu-Natal, Nomcebo Zikode recently celebrated 40 remarkable years surrounded by family, friends, and industry peers. The milestone event took place at the stunning Divine Sunset, the premier venue owned by skincare entrepreneur Portia M, offering golden-hour sunsets and serene landscapes — the perfect backdrop for a celebration of a life lived adventurously, from humble beginnings as a backing vocalist to global music stardom.
Nomcebo stunned in a custom-designed Otiz Seflo gown, radiating timeless elegance as she shared intimate moments with her husband and children, alongside a curated circle of collaborators and supporters. Guests were treated to a decadent culinary experience, with dishes inspired by key milestones in Nomcebo’s career, crafted by renowned chef Connie Shandu, CEO of Dandozest.

The evening, hosted by media powerhouses Masechaba Mposwa and Aaron Moloisi, began with a spiritual prayer led by gospel and Afro-music artist Ntethe Mposwa, setting a tone of gratitude and reflection. The atmosphere came alive with a vibrant performance from maskandi legend Mbuzeni, whose intricate guitar riffs and emotive vocals celebrated South African culture and artistry.

Emotions ran high as Nomcebo’s husband Selwyn Fraser and their children, Ziyanda and Mnotho, shared heartfelt tributes, leaving many in tears. Industry heavyweight Sibo Mhlungu also honored the Grammy-winning artist, applauding her influence and transformative presence in global music.

The celebration reached its peak during an electrifying afterparty featuring performances from Pearl Thusi, Lady Du, TorQue, and Khaya Dladla. Special appearances by actresses Nombulelo Mhlongo and Naledi Boltina-Hens, along with super-producer Exclusive Drumz, turned the night into a pulsating spectacle of music, dance, and joy. Nomcebo herself took the stage for spontaneous sing-alongs, transforming Divine Sunset into a luminous tribute to 40 years of rhythm, resilience, and radiant celebration.
