South African award winning stylist Phupho Gumede has announced that he is closing the chapter on celebrity styling.
In an interview with Ayanda MVP on YFM, the stylist dropped the bombshell that the time had come for him to close the chapter on celebrity stylist.
“After years and years of dressing people’s stories, I have decided to close the chapter on celebrity styling. It’s been such a fun fulling ride, from flights to fittings, from chaos to couture.
“Each moment has contributed to the craft to the name and legacy but all the best dancers know when to leave the stage.”

Gumede burst on to the Mzansi entertainment and fashion scene on the first season of “The Real Housewives of Durban” as the stylist and cousin of Ayanda Ncwane since then he has built a solid name for himself.
He has worked with numerous celebrities styling them for magazine covers, photoshoots and red carpet appearances and reality tv shows. Gumede has been featured in Forbes 30 Under 30, he has also won Pan African Fashion Stylist of the Year at the Africa Choice Awards, three times.
Most recently he styled presenter and actress Nomalanga Shozi when she hosted the Miss South Africa 2025 pageant.
Gumede has also grown into a personality in his own right, attending A-list red carpet events and international fashion shows.
The news of Gumede closing the chapter on celebrity stylist has left many of his supporters heartbroken with many still hoping to work with him.
