There’s something magnetic about watching someone step fully into their joy.
For Cape Town-based digital creator and lifestyle influencer Sesethu Yabo, that joy has recently taken the shape of turquoise waters, sandy toes, and sun-kissed mornings in Mauritius, the kind that make you pause, exhale and dream of a slower life.
But Yabo’s journey to this serene island moment began far from the beach.
Once navigating corporate deadlines and fluorescent-lit offices, she traded her nine-to-five for a creative life built on her terms.
“My perspective changed after my brother passed away in July 2023,” she shared with “GQ”. It made me realise I needed to live my life and find happiness as he did.”
That moment of loss became a turning point, one that birthed @home_with_ses and @sesethu_yabo, her twin digital spaces dedicated to home décor, lifestyle, and fashion inspiration. Each post feels like a reflection of her mantra: live beautifully, simply, and with purpose.
A creative playground with purpose
Since walking away from corporate life, Yabo has done more than create content; she’s built a creative empire.
Her transition from a structured corporate environment to a creative life was not without challenges, but it was driven by her passion and determination. Initially, she faced uncertainty and doubt as she navigated unfamiliar territory.
However, through relentless effort, networking with like-minded individuals, and honing her creative skills, she gradually found her footing.
Her recently launched Evolve Studio, a boutique digital agency, helps brands and creators bring their visual stories to life. This venture not only marked her successful shift to a creative career but also established her as a leader in digital storytelling.
“Social media excites me because it’s such a creative playground you can experiment with so many ways to tell a story,” Yabo wrote on Instagram.
Fast forward to October, and Yabo’s feed is a masterclass in soft luxury, think linen kaftans, glowing skin and golden hour selfies that could double as resort campaigns.
Her latest adventure? A sun-soaked trip to Mauritius, where she’s redefining the term “island girl energy” with a mix of resort chic, fun and soulful moments on the sand.

Mauritius is a vibrant and lively island nation. From beaches and clubs to forest walks and scuba diving, you can enjoy a multitude of activities in Mauritius.
Scrolling through Yabo’s Instagram feed feels like stepping into a dream. She effortlessly embodies the art of vacation style.
Her wardrobe is a great example of tropical style done right.
Floral dresses had a moment in ocean blues and sunset golds. Bold prints that echo lush island flora. Accessories like straw hats, chunky bangles, rings, and woven bags that blend rustic charm with high fashion.
“Just out here living my best island life… soaking up the sun, wandering new places, and collecting little moments that make travel feel like a reset for the soul. Mauritius, you’ve got me feeling lighter, happier, and more in love with life,” she captions one Instagram carousel, showing off the resort’s sandy beaches in a cute orange mini dress and a woven beach bag.
For Yabo, who stayed at the @tamassaresort and Luxbellemare, the itinerary wrote itself.
- Fun for the family: Game rooms, water adventures, cooking classes, and mixology sessions keep everyone entertained.
- Relaxation for adults: Infinity pools, spa sessions, and sunset cocktails invite you to slow down.
- Adventure for all: From snorkelling to boat rides and day trips to private islands, every moment becomes a postcard.
Granted, during one of her island-hopping adventures, she stayed at Salt of Palmar, an adult-only boutique hotel on the east coast of the island, verified by Forbes as one of the finest properties in the world for 2025.
