Here I was, relaxing while waiting for the Orlando Pirates versus Magesi FC quarterfinal clash in the Carling Knockout Cup this evening at 7pm.
Whenever Orlando Pirates play, I enjoy scrolling through posts by fans to see what they have to say before the match starts. It’s a small ritual I also do after every game.
While scrolling this evening, something new caught my attention – the team’s 2025/2026 season limited-edition third jersey, which had just been released. The design immediately stood out. My first thought was, “I have to get it.”
adidas clearly put in the work this season, not only with Orlando Pirates but also with the other teams they partner with.
The new limited-edition third jersey keeps the club’s classic black and white identity but adds a mix of light blue and grey, giving it a fresh edge that fits well with street culture.
I instantly thought about how I would style it. I’d go for a sporty look that’s casual but still polished. I’d tuck the jersey slightly into high-waisted black jeans or a grey pleated mini skirt to give it shape.
White sneakers or chunky light blue trainers would complement the colours, and I’d layer them with a cropped denim jacket or a grey oversized blazer for a more balanced outfit. To finish, I’d add silver hoops, a sleek ponytail, and a crossbody bag for a modern touch – perfect for match day or a relaxed day out.
The jersey will be available from November 14 in limited quantities, and fans are already sharing their thoughts online.
Siyanda Wiseman Manqele wrote, “A season is temporary, drip is forever.”
Thuto Edu added, “That’s a whole different level.” But not everyone was convinced.
Wu Child commented, “Yhooo, our boys are going to look like dairy cows. I hope the trousers are plain white or black.”
According to a statement from the team, the new jersey draws inspiration from the Orlando Towers – a landmark that represents Soweto pride, community and artistic expression.
“The design features vibrant brushstroke patterns that form the bones of the legendary skull and crossbones, a symbol of Orlando Pirates’ spirit of pride, resilience and defiance.”
“The blue dawn colour, highlighted by the light orchid, echoes the vibrancy, diversity, and beauty of kasi living and the dynamic energy that unites players, fans, and township streets,” the statement read.
