A 25-year-old man was sentenced to life imprisonment for the rape of two minors in February 2022 at Manyatseng, Free State.
The Ladybrand Regional Court convicted and sentenced Ntsikane Sani for the rape of two girls aged 11 and 13.
Free State police spokesperson Warrant Officer Mmako Mophiring said the first victim was accosted outside her home while using the toilet.
“The accused grabbed and forcefully dragged her from her home to a local dumping field, threatening to kill her with a knife in his possession, and raped her.”
In the second incident, the 13-year-old girl was walking home from school with a group of friends when she kidnapped by the accused.
“As they were walking through the local dumping ground, the accused grabbed and pinned her to the ground.
“The friends that were in the company of the victim ran to get help while the accused proceeded to hit the victim with his clenched fist, causing her to lose a tooth.
The accused then proceeded to rape her,” said Mophiring.
Mophiring further stated that the individuals who were alerted by the two friends of the victim chased the accused until he was caught and subsequently arrested.
The accused was found guilty in both cases and sentenced to life imprisonment for the first case and 15 years imprisonment for the second case.
“The court concluded that the 15-year sentence will run concurrently with life imprisonment; therefore, he will serve life imprisonment.
He was declared unfit to possess a firearm, and his name would be included in the National Register for sex offenders and National Child Protection Register,” said Mophiring.
