The Proteas have won the toss and opted to bat first in the one-off T20I against Namibia at the Namibia Cricket Ground in Windhoek.
In his rise to international cricket, youngster Lhuan-dre Pretorius has often spoken about how Quinton de Kock has been an inspiration and a player he looks up to. Today in Windhoek, the 19-year-old will walk out to open the batting alongside his hero De Kock, following the wicketkeeper’s recent reversal of his retirement, as South Africa take on Namibia in the one-off T20I.
The youngster will be looking to get his T20I career on track, having endured a tough start during the tours of Zimbabwe, Australia and England.
Alongside Pretorius will be the cool and composed De Kock, who is looking to prove a point following his return to international cricket. De Kock will take the gloves ahead of the young Pretorius.
Making up the top six are the experienced Reeza Hendricks at three, newcomers Rubin Hermann, Jason Smith and captain Donovan Ferreira at four, five and six respectively.
The lower order is strengthened by Dolphins all-rounder Andile Simelane and the capable Bjorn Fortuin. Fast bowler Gerald Coetzee also makes his return to the green and gold, having missed the tours of Australia and England.
Joining Coetzee in the pace attack are left-arm quick Nandre Burger and right-armer Lizaad Williams. Missing out are leg-spinner Nqaba Peter, fast bowler Ottneil Baartman and batter Rivaldo Moonsamy.
