Orlando Pirates and Saudi Pro League club Al-Ettifaq have reportedly reached an agreement over the sale of starlet Relebohile Mofokeng.

According to KickOff, the deal for Mofokeng to move to the Middle Eastern club is close to being finalised after the two sides agreed on a €1.5 million (around R31 million) fee.

“Relebohile Mofokeng, the South African Orlando Pirates player, is set to move to Al-Ettifaq after the two clubs agreed on terms,” KickOff reported.

“The Sustainability Committee’s approval is pending before the official announcement. The transfer is valued at €1.5 million.”

Should Mofokeng move to Al-Ettifaq, he will join fellow Orlando Pirates academy graduate Mohau Nkota, who signed for the club earlier this month.

A number of clubs have reportedly been keeping tabs on Mofokeng, who has lit up the Betway Premiership over the last two seasons. Earlier in the transfer window, he was linked with a possible move to Israel, although this was dismissed by Pirates. Clubs in Major League Soccer in the United States were also said to be interested in his services.

It was also reported that Dutch champions PSV Eindhoven were weighing up their options, but this was later dismissed by Pirates as untrue. Last week, CAF Champions League winners Pyramids FC also entered the race to sign the highly sought-after talent.

Orlando Pirates did not respond to Sport‘s request for comment on Mofokeng’s future at the club.
