This is why the Jayden-Lee Meek matter will not be heard on Thursday

The bail application for murder-accused Tiffany Meek is expected to resume in the Roodepoort Magistrate’s Court on Friday.

The bail proceedings were expected to enter their fifth day on Thursday, but proceedings were halted after Meek’s attorney, Noven Naidoo, was unavailable to attend court.

Meek, 31, from Fleurhof, is accused of killing her 11-year-old son Jayden-Lee Meek.

Jayden was reported missing on May 13, 2025, and his body was found a few hours later, a few metres from his home.

In addition to murder, Meek faces charges of crimen injuria, attempting to defeat or obstruct the course of justice, and attempting to defeat or obstruct the administration of justice.

Cross-examination of the SAPS Sergeant is expected to resume on Friday.

The officer has been on the stand this week.

On Wednesday, Naidoo asked the policeman about Jayden’s clothing during his cross-examination, citing that the teacher, Tiffany, and the day shift security guard had given conflicting statements about what Jayden had been wearing the day he disappeared.

“My client will state that she helped him get dressed that morning, and he was wearing grey long pants, a white shirt, a tie, and black takkies on the day,” Naidoo submitted.

The police sergeant said he could not really comment on what the child was wearing as those were given to police by people who had seen Jayden-Lee on the day.

The court was also given copies of the complex’s occurrence book (OB) of May 13 and May 14.

The copies before the court showed that an entry of Jayden-Lee’s disappearance was only entered after 8 pm, by the nightshift guard.

Naidoo directed the police sergeant’s attention to missing entries in the book.

The court was also shown Jayden-Lee’s black school bag the police sergeant previously testified about. He told the court the bag was taken in as evidence after he opened one of the books and saw school work done on the day Jayden-Lee disappeared. This prompted him to remove the school bag from Meek’s flat and enter it into evidence.
