Two brothers killed and their pregnant mother injured in KZN hit and run incident

In a heart-wrenching incident on Friday afternoon, tragedy struck on the N2 highway near Amatikulu, KwaZulu-Natal, when a vehicle recklessly left the scene after hitting a pregnant woman and her two young sons.

Samantha Meyrick, spokesperson for IPSS Medical Rescue, shared grim details of the accident, revealing that emergency paramedics were swiftly on the scene after receiving the call.

Meyrick said when paramedics arrived at the scene it was established that a pregnant lady and her two sons were hit by a vehicle which then fled the scene.

Tragically, despite immediate medical intervention, Mayrik said both boys, aged 6 and 10, were discovered to have sustained fatal injuries and were declared dead at the site of the accident. 

Meanwhile, the boys’ mother, who was also injured in the collision, received urgent medical care from the IPSS Medical Rescue paramedics at the scene. Fortunately, she was stabilised and is being transported to hospital for further treatment.
