It’s no secret that Mamelodi Sundowns are one of the richest football clubs on the continent, but their actual squad value makes for some interesting reading.

For example, valued at R18.55 million according to transfermarkt.us, star goalkeeper Ronwen Williams doesn’t crack the top-15 most valuable players in the Sundowns squad.

Top of the list in terms of market value is striker Lucas Ribeiro. The Brazilian is apparently worth a whopping R51.54 million.

Cape Town-born Iqraam Rayners comes in at number two with a market value of R49.48 million. The 29-year-old forward, however, is the most valuable South African in the star-studded Sundowns lineup.

The next two are South Africans, with winger Tashreeq Matthews priced at R41.25 million and left back Aubrey Modiba worth R37.12 million.

Namibian forward Peter Shalulile is the most expensive player in the Sundowns squad over the age of 30. The 31-year-old commands a price tag of R28.86 million.

With a current squad size of 41, the total squad value is estimated at R744 million.

The average age of the squad is currently at 27.7 years per player.

Sundowns recently competed at the FIFA Club World Cup, as they exited in the group stage. Their earnings from the tournament stand at an incredible R228 million, with R174 million of that being the participation fee.

Sundowns earned R36 million for their group stage win over Ulsan Hyundai and R18 million for their draw with Fluminense.

Coming into the Club World Cup, the Betway Premiership champions were not expected to trouble some of the heavy hitters in the group. Instead, Sundowns beat Ulsan HD in their first outing, competed strongly with Dortmund before going down 4-3, and finally drew with Fluminense which saw them miss out on the knockout stages.
