Shauwn Mkhize has hinted that her son, Andile Mpisane, may have played his final game –signaling the end of his short-lived soccer career as he hangs up his number 10 jersey.
Mkhize purchased Eswatini giants Mbabane Highlanders recently and rebranded the club to include her son’s initials, as she did with the controversial Royal AM, who were kicked out of the PSL earlier this year.
Alongside his executive role at Royal AM, Mpisane also played for the first team — a dual role that drew widespread attention. While he featured regularly last season, his on-field performances raised questions.
Despite being heavily involved last season, Mpisane often appeared out of his depth – notably in a clash against Kaizer Chiefs, where Royal AM trailed 2–0 by half-time. After he was subbed off, the team rallied to earn a 2–2 draw.

After Mkhize bought the new club, a lot of football fans wondered if Mpisane would be returning to the field.
But, according to the owner, in a chat with Andile Ncube on Metro FM, Mpisane was interested in transitioning to the management side of the game.
“Because even when Royal AM was there, he was starting to learn the administrative part of it,” Mkhize said about her son, who is also a rapper and DJ.
“I think all he wanted was to play in the elite league – which he did, he tasted that… I don’t know, but for now I think he prefers to be in the management space. I don’t see him going [to Eswatini], but he enjoys being in the business side of things.”
Mbabane Highlanders are the most successful team in Eswatini, with 13 league titles to their name. However, they haven’t been champions since 2001.
