Media personality and DJ Innocent “Inno” Matijane has officially announced his departure from Moja Love’s hit reality show The Way Ngingakhona. After five successful seasons, Inno is closing this chapter of his life, leaving fans both emotional and inspired.
The Way Ngingakhona is a reality show that shines a light on the lives of LGBTQIA+ individuals, telling their stories of love, struggle, and strength. Inno has been one of the most loved and followed cast members on the show, openly sharing his personal journey with viewers over the years.
On Sunday, Inno shared a heartfelt message on his social media timeline, confirming the news with an “official statement”:
“After five incredible seasons on The Way Ngingakhona, I am officially closing this chapter,” he wrote. “This show has been a big part of my life and a place where many people got to witness my story unfold in real time. I am deeply thankful to the channel, the producers, the crew, my castmates, and especially the people who have supported me throughout this journey. Your love, messages, and presence have not gone unnoticed.”
He explained that when he returned to the show for the most recent season, he wasn’t completely sure if it was the right move. Still, he felt it was important to come back and share one final piece of his truth.
“When I was back this season, I wasn’t sure if it was the right thing to do. I had already started walking a more intentional path. But I accepted, because I wanted to share one last piece of my truth. And although I didn’t say everything, I said enough.”
Inno spoke about how much he has grown over the years — emotionally, spiritually, and personally — and how that growth helped him realise that it was time to move on.
“I have grown in ways I never imagined. Spiritually, emotionally, and personally. And that growth has shown me that not every environment will always reflect who you are becoming. That is why I have chosen to step away from the show.”
He made it clear that his decision wasn’t influenced by any drama or negativity behind the scenes.
“This decision is not coming from any negativity or discomfort. In fact, my experience with the production team has always been warm and professional. They have treated me with kindness and respect, and I am truly going to miss working with them. I leave with gratitude, not regret.”
While Inno has hinted at leaving before, he said this time feels different — more personal and meaningful.
“For those who have seen me say I’m leaving in the past, I understand that this may feel familiar. But I hope you can sense that something is different this time. I am different. I’m no longer making choices based on what I think the world expects of me. I’m making them based on where I am with God, with myself, and with the future I want to build.”
Though he’s stepping away from The Way Ngingakhona, this is not the end of Inno’s time on our screens. He expressed his interest in continuing to tell real stories — and even hinted at exploring acting and other creative projects.
“This is not the end of my journey in reality television. I still believe in the power of real stories and real conversations. I still love the medium and everything it can be when it reflects truth and purpose. I also look forward to exploring other spaces, including scripted work (Acting) and creative projects that allow me to keep growing.”
He ended his message by thanking everyone who supported him: “Thank you to everyone who has walked with me, prayed for me, supported me, and even challenged me to become better. I carry this chapter with pride and walk into the next one with peace.”
Fans have taken to social media to share their love, appreciation, and support for Inno. Many say they are sad to see him go but proud of his courage and growth.
