As Stellenbosch FC continue their quest for greatness, the arrival of Siviwe Nkwali marks yet another momentous step in building a squad that not only competes at the highest level but also embodies the future of South African football.

The 20-year-old Nkwali has garnered attention for his impressive performances and was a key figure in the recently concluded CAF Under-20 Africa Cup of Nations, where he helped lead Amajita to victory under the guidance of coach Raymond Mdaka.

This strategic acquisition follows Nkwali’s stint with neighbours Cape Town Spurs, who were relegated to the Safa ABC Motsepe League after a challenging season in the NFD.

Nkwali’s move to Stellenbosch represents not just a new chapter in his career; he is ready to transform adversity into opportunity and is determined to leave a mark in the top tier of South African football.

In a press release, Stellies expressed enthusiasm about the new addition to their squad, citing his talent and experience as potential game-changers for the club. Nkwali shared his excitement, expressing gratitude towards Stellenbosch FC for the opportunity.

“I am happy to be here and grateful to Stellenbosch FC for allowing me to showcase my talents,” he said.

His keen desire to contribute is evident, as he added: “Stellenbosch have been a top-three club in the past few seasons, and I hope to help the team continue to compete in the league and push for more silverware.”

Twenty-four hours earlier, Stellenbosch made a bold move in the transfer market, announcing the signing of striker Muzomuhle Khanyi from Motsepe Foundation Championship side Hungry Lions.

Khanyi, who enjoyed a standout 2024/25 season, capped his prolific run by finishing as the NFD’s top goalscorer with a haul of 18 goals. His performance has undoubtedly caught the eye of several Premiership clubs, including Stellenbosch.

“Stellenbosch FC is delighted to announce that the club has acquired the services of striker Muzomuhle Khanyi on a permanent transfer from Hungry Lions FC,” the club stated in a formal announcement.

“The 26-year-old joins the Maroons after a stellar season in the NFD, where he ended the 2024–25 campaign as the leading goalscorer with 18 goals.”

The acquisitions signal an ambitious approach from Stellenbosch as they prepare for the upcoming CAF Confederation Cup, following their impressive third-place finish in the previous league campaign. The Maroons are focused on building a more competitive squad, and their latest additions highlight their commitment to success next season.

Khanyi remarked: “It’s an honour to join a club with the winning mentality of Stellenbosch FC.

“It’s one of the best decisions I’ve made in my career, and I already feel at home. I’m here to learn – I know it’s going to be difficult because I’m new at the club and stepping up from the NFD – but I hope I can continue with the form I showed last season.”

With Stellenbosch primed for an exciting season ahead, fans are hoping that Khanyi can bring his goal-scoring heroics to the Betway Premiership, further solidifying the club’s ambitions on the continental stage.
