MKP coordinator in KZN resigns, joins Shivambu’s Mayibuye

In a dramatic political twist, MK Party regional coordinator of the uMkhanyakude district, KwaZulu-Natal (KZN), Eugene Ndlangamandla has resigned, condemning the party as a “family-and-friends business” rather than a true vehicle for black liberation.

Ndlangamandla confirmed to that he has tendered his immediate resignation to join the Mayibuye Consultation Team led by Floyd Shivambu.

In his resignation letter, he said unfair treatment of members was a significant problem within the party.

“MKP seems to operate more like a family and friends’ business rather than a political party to liberate black people. I have noticed a lack of discipline among members, with some using derogatory language and dishonesty running the organisation, which I do not believe in,” he said.

“It has been a tough journey for me since I joined MKP on December 16, 2023, after President [Jacob] Zuma announced its formation, I did a lot in uMkhanyakude region MK, even when it was not fashionable for other members.

“As the coordinator for the region, I successfully farmed all structures within the region, from voting Districts, 8D Wards, 4 sub-regions and the region resulted to garner many votes in the Region,” the letter reads.

Ndlangamandla‘s resignation comes as the party is fighting the factional squabbles.

On Tuesday, two leaked letters surfaced, both addressed to the leader of the MK Party, former President Jacob Zuma, exposing growing internal discord within the party’s ranks.

One letter called on Zuma to take decisive action against his daughter, Duduzile Zuma-Sambudla, citing concerns over her alleged unruly behaviour.

The second demanded the immediate removal of the party’s newly appointed Parliamentary Chief Whip, Colleen Makhubele, reflecting a lack of consensus over key leadership appointments.

Remarkably, for a political organisation not yet two years old, the MK Party has already cycled through five secretary-generals and is now on its fifth Treasurer General.

In Parliament, the party operated for nearly a year with eight vacant seats—having reached the limit on permissible MP replacements—further highlighting its internal management challenges.

Yet, despite the visible instability and ongoing factionalism, the MK Party continues to assert that it remains united and stable.
