Pap might be a staple in South African homes, but mastering the dish is no easy feat, especially for someone who’s never made it before.
One American man, married to a South African woman, decided to impress his wife by preparing pap for dinner.
Admitting he had no clue how to make the beloved dish, he cleverly opted to use an automatic pap maker, which had just arrived that day.
Using the device, which resembles a pressure cooker, he simply added the ingredients, and within 25 minutes, the pap was ready.
When his wife came home from the gym, he eagerly presented his homemade meal.
But instead of being immediately impressed, she was shocked.
“Who made pap?” she asked, clearly suspicious.
Unable to believe her husband had pulled it off, she questioned him repeatedly.
“Be honest, who came here and made pap today?” she asked him and their young son, convinced there was another cook involved.
Even after tasting the pap and noting that it wasn’t even burnt, she kept pressing. “Did you watch a tutorial?” she asked, shocked by how well it turned out.
Eventually, he confessed that he used an automatic pap maker.

The Logan Family, who share snippets of their multicultural life with over one million followers on TikTok, quickly went viral with the post, which racked up nearly three million views.
While the high-tech pap maker intrigued some viewers, it was her hilarious reaction that stole the show.
One fan joked, “We’re not eating another person’s pap when we’re the housewife. Who came here?”
Another added, “Bro had no idea he was having a near-death experience. ‘Who made pap, who came here?’”
