Nonku Williams and Jojo Robinson’s Friendship Hits a Breaking Point

Fans of The Real Housewives of Durban were left shocked and heartbroken after noticing that reality TV stars Nonku Williams and Jojo Robinson—fondly known together as “Joku”—have unfollowed each other on social media.

The pair, who have been friends for five years, were once seen as inseparable. But following the season five finale last Friday, eagle-eyed fans spotted the change on Instagram, sparking rumours about a fallout. Many wondered if their friendship could survive the pressure of fame and personal change.

Speaking to News24, Nonku Williams confirmed that their friendship has hit a rough patch, and she believes her deepening spiritual journey played a big role.

“As I’ve deepened my faith, our paths have diverged,” Williams explained. “Jojo struggled to understand my spiritual growth and my call to share my faith with others. I believe it’s my duty to spread the word about Christ, and I couldn’t compromise on that. Unfortunately, our differences led to misunderstandings and blame being placed on others.”

In the final episode of the season, Nonku had already hinted at a disconnect between them, saying she didn’t feel a strong spiritual bond with Jojo.

“I’m not placing blame but rather recognising that our journeys have taken different turns. I’m focusing on my purpose and relationship with God,” she added.

Throughout their time on the show, the “Joku” friendship had often faced public scrutiny. Many questioned whether their bond was genuine or just for TV. The two were also criticised for choosing sides during cast disagreements, which added more strain.

The tension between them seemed to grow after Nonku announced she wouldn’t return for the next season or take part in the reunion. After that, Jojo posted a cryptic message on social media, hinting at the situation.

“This isn’t easy for me at the moment, but with the nature of TV, I can’t share anything right now. I also don’t know anything right now,” she wrote. “I would prefer that my friendships be allowed SPACE TO BREATHE. It’s a lot, guys. I need to figure things out. I’ve been in a friendship that has been under constant scrutiny from the public for years. We BOTH need some time and grace, so please allow us both that and don’t assume anything right now.”

As both women continue their individual journeys — one spiritual, the other uncertain — fans are left wondering if Joku will ever find its way back. For now, it seems the friendship has come to a pause, if not an end.
