Big Brother Mzansi Season 5 winner, Sweet Guluva, is proving he’s more than just a reality TV star. The 22-year-old from Nquthu in KwaZulu-Natal has officially stepped into the music world — and he’s doing it with confidence and style.
Sweet Guluva, whose real name is Akhonamathemba Mbele-Zwane, won the hearts of many during Big Brother Mzansi’s Umlilo Season with his charm and honesty. Now, he’s winning over even more fans with the release of his debut single, Sweet Guluva, a collaboration with award-winning DJ and music producer DJ Zinhle.
Speaking to Daily Sun, Sweet Guluva shared that music has always been a part of who he is — even before football and reality TV. “People don’t realise this, but before I even kicked a soccer ball or got into reality TV, my dream was to become a musician. It’s a privilege to see that dream finally coming true. From here on, I know I can reach great heights,” he said.
He added that during his time in the Big Brother house, he often spoke about his passion for music. “People used to hear me say I wanted to sing, and now I’m doing it. Being an artist means being able to rap, sing or flow on any beat, be it amapiano, house, or hip-hop. It’s all about adapting and self-expression,” he said.
His first single is already getting attention for its smooth flow, catchy lyrics, and energetic vibe. Sweet Guluva said fans can expect a lot more from him. “There’s a lot of music coming. I don’t want to say much, but I can promise you, it’s going to be worth the wait,” he teased.
More than anything, Sweet Guluva wants to inspire others from small towns to believe in their dreams. “If I can do it, so can they,” he said.
From TV screens to music charts, Sweet Guluva is just getting started — and Mzansi is watching closely.
