South Africa’s popular DJ and production duo TxC has returned home in celebration after winning big at the 2025 BET Awards. The talented pair touched down at OR Tambo International Airport on Thursday, where they were warmly welcomed by excited fans, family, and media.
TxC, made up of Tarryn Reid and Clairise Hefke, proudly represented South Africa at the ceremony, which took place on 9 June at the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles. They made history as the first DJ duo to win the Best New International Act at the BET Awards.
Originally from Gqeberha, Eastern Cape, TxC has been making waves in the global music scene with their fresh and energetic Amapiano sound. Their win was not only a personal victory, but a proud moment for the whole continent.
In a powerful statement, TxC said: “This award is not just for us — it’s for every young African creative with a dream. We’re honoured to represent South Africa and can’t wait to celebrate this moment with our people at home.”
Matome Chiloane, MEC for Education, Sports, Arts, Culture, and Recreation, praised the duo for putting South Africa on the map: “TxC’s victory is a proud moment for South Africa and the African continent. Their sound, energy, and authenticity have resonated globally, proving that our culture and creativity know no bounds. We salute them for flying the South African flag high and inspiring a new generation of artists.”
Clairise Hefke also shared her emotional reaction on social media: “Is this real?? SCREAMING. CRYING. Overwhelmed with joy. Thank you to everyone who’s ever believed in us and stood by our side. Your support means the world and we’re feeling all the emotions right now.
To our incredible team, thank you for pushing us to grow and become the best versions of ourselves. And to our label @lvrn, your belief in us has never wavered. Last but not least, to my partner in everything I do, My Tcup, WE DID IT!
What God has in store for us is greater than anything we could’ve imagined. We are now officially BET AWARD-WINNING ARTISTS. God is so, so good. South Africa, Africa, and Amapiano to the world!”
