A warrant for the arrest of Lucky Boitumelo Molefe has been issued in connection with the murder of 30-year-old engineer, Armard Swart.

Swart, an employee at Q Tech Engineering Company based in Vereeniging, was shot and killed while seated in his vehicle outside his workplace by two suspects who were driving a white Hyundai i20 on 17 April 2024.

Police said he sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was declared deceased on the scene.

“An intensive investigation led by the SAPS Head Office Organised Crime team and Crime Intelligence led to the arrest of four suspects, including the one who was suspected to be behind the plot to murder Swart,” said police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Vincent Mukhathi.

Police said it is alleged the suspects orchestrated the assassination to silence Swart after he blew the whistle about fraud and corruption that was linked to a Transnet tender contract.

Molefe is from Johannesburg and has been in hiding since December 2024.

“The other four accused are still detained in prison, and their case has been postponed for trial to be heard at the Palm Ridge High Court in August 2025.”

Police have warned Molefe to hand himself over at the nearest police station.

Anyone with information about the whereabouts of the suspect can contact Investigating Officer, Sergeant Khorommbi, on 063 695 8590.
