Former Miss South Africa 2010, Bokang Montjane, is back in the spotlight — not only as the new National Director of Miss Supranational South Africa, but also as an inspiration to many with her powerful comeback story.
In a heartfelt message shared on social media, Bokang opened up about a difficult chapter in her life. When the Covid-19 pandemic hit, like many entrepreneurs, she was forced to close her salons. The decision left her feeling devastated, unsure if she would ever return to the beauty business she loved so deeply.
“A few years ago Covid hit and I had to close my salons,” she wrote. “I was a little devastated and wondered even when things got back to normal if I should go back again?”
Although new opportunities eventually came her way, Bokang admitted that the desire to reopen her business never left her. “It kept itching and itching inside of me to reopen again because I genuinely love watching people coming in feeling down and seeing them light up and feel beautiful,” she explained.
She added, “When I started this I thought I’m in the business of beauty and hair but soon realised we are in the business of making people feel good!!!”
Her message is now resonating with many who have faced setbacks or put dreams aside due to life’s challenges. She encouraged her followers not to give up on their goals:
“This is a friendly reminder in case you once lost something, or put it aside because life happened and your focus had to be somewhere else… FETCH IT!!! FETCH THAT DREAM, START THAT SMALL BUSINESS, START THAT PRODUCT, WRITE THAT BOOK, GO BACK TO SCHOOL. Whatever it is JUST DO IT!!!”
Bokang also gave a heartfelt thank you to her team: “A big thank you to my incredible team for always going an extra mile!!!”
Her story sparked an outpouring of love and congratulations from her followers, many calling her words both touching and motivating.
