Model and former reality TV star Blue Mbombo has opened up about the deep pain she still feels after losing her mother. On what would have been her mom’s birthday, Blue shared a heartfelt tribute on Instagram, remembering the woman who meant so much to her and her twin sister, Brown Mbombo.
Alongside a touching picture of herself, her twin, and their late mom, Blue wrote:
“Dear Jwarkazi, Happy Heavenly Birthday! As we remember your special day, it also marks a year since we said our goodbyes. Your love surrounds us still, and we miss you more than words can express. Thank you for the beautiful memories and the warmth you brought to our lives. Forever in our hearts Mama.”
The post was filled with love and emotion, as Blue reflected on the lasting impact her mother had on their lives.
Back in June 2024, shortly after their mother’s passing, a close friend told ZiMoja that the Mbombo twins were devastated. “Both Blue and Brown are not okay. Their mom meant everything to them. They lived to please her and her passing has been hard to accept,” the friend shared. At the time, the family was still making funeral arrangements, and it was a very difficult period for the twins.
Blue herself admitted she wasn’t ready to talk about the loss. “I am heartbroken,” she told ZiMoja. “It’s too soon. It’s not a good time. We are still processing the news.”
The love the Mbombo sisters had for their mom was always visible. In 2016, they surprised her by building her a house — a proud moment they shared on their social media platforms. Then, in 2021, they made her 55th birthday even more special by surprising her with a performance by legendary gospel singer Dr Rebecca Malope. The birthday celebration was a joyful event attended by close family and friends.
Even though their mother is no longer physically present, Blue and Brown continue to carry her memory with them.
