Actress, singer, and songwriter Halle Bailey has requested sole legal and physical custody of her 16-month-old son Halo, fathered by her ex-boyfriend DDG.
According to court documents obtained by PEOPLE, Bailey is seeking sole legal and physical custody of Halo, citing a history of abuse and concerns about DDG’s behaviour.
The 25-year-old actress’s request includes supervised visits for DDG, to be facilitated by a professional company, once a week for six hours while Halo is in Los Angeles (LA).
Bailey is also asking the court to restrict YouTuber and rapper DDG, real name Darryl Dwayne Granberry Jr., from taking Halo outside of LA County.
Citing concerns about child abduction, the “Little Mermaid” star wants the court to order DDG not to move with Halo without her written permission, surrender any travel documents, and provide detailed travel plans if they do travel together.
This includes round-trip airline tickets, contact information, and an open ticket for Bailey in case Halo is not returned. Bailey and her ex-boyfriend welcomed baby Halo in December 2023. They called it quits in 2024.
Bailey alleges that the 27-year-old rapper has a pattern of abuse against her and being uncooperative with parenting, including taking away or hiding their child, Halo, and threatening to take Halo away from her.
This development follows Bailey’s recent filing for a protection order against DDG, alleging abuse. The singer was recently granted a temporary order of protection from her ex after alleging that he physically attacked her multiple times following their October 2024 breakup.
On Tuesday, May 14, “The Color Purple” actress formally filed for a temporary restraining order against her ex-boyfriend.
In the court documents obtained by “PEOPLE”, Bailey described a pattern of alleged abuse by DDG, detailing specific incidents that support her requests for a restraining order and sole custody of their son.
Court documents revealed a disturbing incident where DDG allegedly became violent when Bailey asked him to discuss a visitation schedule for their son, Halo.
According to Bailey, the altercation turned physical when DDG slammed her face into the steering wheel, leaving her with visible injuries, including bruises and a chipped tooth, which were documented with photos.
