Anele Mdoda Introduces Her ‘Royal Rebels’ Bridesmaids in Touching Tribute

South African media personality Anele Mdoda is in full celebration mode as she prepares to walk down the aisle with her fiancé, Bonelela ‘Buzza’ James. The couple recently hosted a breathtaking candlelit engagement party, just weeks after their successful lobola negotiations, and now Anele is introducing the special women standing by her side on her big day—her bridesmaids.

The engagement celebration, which took place over the past weekend, was a stunning affair filled with elegance, laughter, and love. Held privately with close friends and family, the event was themed “Royal Rebels,” with guests donning all-black outfits while the couple stood out in striking fashion—Anele in a flowing white gown and Bonelela in a sharp black-and-white suit. The iconic Grammy-winning group Ladysmith Black Mambazo performed live, serenading the couple and their guests with their soulful harmonies. Videos shared online showed Anele and Bonelela joyfully dancing, fully immersed in their moment of love.

On Instagram, the beloved broadcaster introduced the inspiring women chosen to walk with her as she takes this next step in life. Her heartfelt descriptions of each woman reveal not only deep friendship but a sisterhood built on trust, laughter, and shared memories.

“Meet the bridesmaids,” Anele began her touching post, going on to highlight the unique roles each friend plays in her life.

She started with her maid of honour, Neo Nontso whom she describes as her personality twin. “I know for a fact I won’t have to worry about anything,” she wrote. “You are the literal extension of me.”

Next is Cindy Poluta, her radio partner-in-crime and friend of 12 years. “She is loyal and one of my favourite examples of marriage and parenting,” Anele shared.

Daisy Makoni , entered Anele’s life through their children’s friendship. “Daisy will go to war with you and for you,” she wrote. “She knows her wine… which will come in handy.”

Then there’s Mrs Nodada, a lifelong friend who’s seen Anele through her biggest dreams and deepest reflections. “Wife of the year for 15 years in a row,” Anele praised. “Our moms were besties, and now she’s one of my shining lights.”

Musical sisters Ezile Bubu  and Pilani Bubu, friends since 2000, were also included. “To know you is to know peace,” Anele said, describing Pilani’s creativity and Ezile’s angelic presence as pillars of her life.

Lastly, Rose Sizani-Mungofa was honoured for her fairness and enduring friendship. “We’ve never had a fall out in 17 years,” Anele noted. “A wonderful mother and a solid wife!”

With her “Royal Rebels” beside her, there’s no doubt her walk to the altar will be as bold, beautiful, and unforgettable as she is.
