Minnie Dlamini's 'anti-bride era': a glamorous leap into singlehood after Dr Brian Monaisa

Minnie Dlamini is back on the singles list, and she’s not sulking. After a few months of being loved-up with celebrity plastic surgeon Dr Brian Monaisa, the two have called it quits.

The rumours had been swirling for a while, with online speculation accusing Dlamini of playing a part in breaking up Monaisa’s previous relationship.

But on Monday, April 21, Dr Brian took to Instagram to clear the air.

“Ms Dlamini and I had a beautiful relationship which sadly came to an end purely for personal reasons which had nothing to do with infidelity by either party,” he wrote. “Whilst our romantic relationship has come to an end, there remains mutual respect between Ms Dlamini and I.”

It’s giving a clean break, no drama.

This comes after Monaisa’s ex, Neema Aloyce, accused Dlamini of meddling in her relationship. She later issued a public apology, saying she’d reacted emotionally. Still, the damage had already made headlines.

Meanwhile, Dlamini is doing what she does best and that’s controlling her own narrative. On the cover of “True Love magazine”, dressed in black like she’s burying the past, she made her new era very clear.

“My ‘anti-bride’ era … My career has never been, and will never be, defined by my relationship status. I was Minnie before marriage, and I will be Minnie long after my divorce,” she shared on X.

Additionally, podcaster MacG stirred up fresh drama by making crude comments about Dlamini’s love life during a recent episode of “Podcast and Chill”.

In a moment of unnecessary banter, he said: “Bro, I’m telling you man. There’s got to be something wrong with her; maybe her coochie smells or something. You know this happens, man, it happens, especially with the hot girls.”

The backlash was immediate, with social media users slamming his comments as misogynistic and calling for the podcast, one of the most-watched in SA, to be taken down.

But as Dlamini reclaims her narrative, not everyone is on board.

@Lovelint91 wrote: “That headline alone: ‘anti-bride’ era … is what’s wrong with women today … how can I allow my daughter to follow someone with such a mindset??!! Marriage is beautiful! It’s the foundation of life and love!”

Another user, @Fulunem, added a more balanced view: “You look great! No one must be defined by marriage or divorce … But why is it an ‘Anti bride era’? My cousin just got married … so I wonder how all these brides like her receive your message.”

@Validator365 also wrote, “Why is it anti-bride era like it’s ‘demonising marriage and being a bride’… what are these famous people with so much following represent vele?”
