Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) member Mzwanele Manyi has expressed dissatisfaction following a recent incident involving the Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) of Ejozini Municipality. The IFP came under scrutiny for its decision to hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony to mark the official opening of a dirt road, a project that reportedly cost R4.7 million.

Manyi, a prominent figure within the EFF, criticized the IFP for what he deemed a wasteful use of public funds. The ribbon-cutting event drew ridicule from Manyi and others who questioned the appropriateness of celebrating a basic infrastructure project, such as a dirt road, with such pomp and ceremony.

“A MOONSHOT PACT member, the IFP of Ejozini Municipality will be cutting a ribbon to officially open a dirt road. This is what you should expect in the MOONSHOT PACT arrangement, mediocrity.” – Wrote Mzwanele Manyi on Twitter.

The incident has sparked a larger conversation about responsible spending and allocation of resources within local municipalities. Critics argue that prioritizing extravagant ceremonies for routine projects might divert resources from more pressing community needs.
