In yet another twist to self-proclaimed ‘Prophet’ Shepherd Bushiri and his wife Mary’s saga, the Malawi court has rejected an application from their lawyer for extradition proceedings to be heard as civil and not criminal proceedings.
In their defense, their lawyer also says the extradition request is incomplete as the South African government has not provided documentary evidence.
The court has ruled that the case will continue being tried as a criminal case. The couple fled South Africa while on bail in November last year due to the many charges leveled against them in their home country. The Malawian government has accused the man of God of theft, money laundering, and fraud connections.
