In a bid to strengthen Ghana’s neonatal health-care system, the Hungarian ambassador to Ghana, His Excellency Tamás Fehér, has donated a state-of-the-art phototherapy machine to the Ghana Health Service.
The donation, aimed at improving the treatment of neonatal jaundice, took place at a brief ceremony at the Service’s Head Office in Accra.
Speaking at the event, Ambassador Fehér underscored the machine’s potential to significantly reduce treatment time and improve survival outcomes for newborn babies affected by jaundice.
He reaffirmed Hungary’s commitment to supporting Ghana’s health-care sector through strategic partnerships and medical interventions.

Receiving the donation on behalf of the Ghana Health Service, the acting GHS director general, Professor Samuel Kaba Akoriyea, expressed his appreciation for the timely intervention.
He assured that the equipment, designated for the Upper East Region, would be put to effective use and maintained regularly to serve newborns in need.
Professor Akoriyea further emphasised the critical role of such collaborations in strengthening Ghana’s health-care infrastructure. He expressed optimism about fostering more partnerships between Ghana and Hungary to enhance medical care and ensure better health outcomes for citizens.
The donation marks another milestone in the growing co-operation between Ghana and Hungary, particularly in the area of health-care development.
