Peki (V/R), Oct. 06, GNA- Churchill and Friends, a non-government organisation based at Peki, has presented some educational materials to schoolchildren at Peki in the South Dayi District of the Volta Region.
The organisation presented pens, pencils, exercise books, notebooks and school bags to the pupils for their excellent performance in the end of their term examinations.
The beneficiary children were selected from Peki-Dzogbati, Blengo, Wudome and Tsame.
Mr. Churchill Oforikumah, the Assembly Member of Peki-Dzogbati and Founder of the organisation, it would continue to support education in the area to ensure that no child was left behind.
He said the organisation was formed to support, especially brilliant but needy pupils in the area.
Mr. Oforikumah said parents were doing all they could to assist their children to have the best education, but financial challenges hindered their efforts.
The Assembly Member emphasised the need for benevolent organisations and philanthropists to come to the aid of parents by supporting the children with the necessary educational materials.
He explained that the materials were to motivate the learners, boost their zeal for learning and to excel in their academic work.
Learners, he said, become motivated when they have access to learning materials.
The Founder said his next plan would be to use the allowances promised Assembly Members by the government to support this worthy cause of supporting brilliant but needy students and appeals to government to speed up payments.
Mr. Oforikumah entreated pupils to devote much of their time to reading and focus on their studies to acquire the requisite knowledge that would make them useful to themselves, society and the country at large.
The Assembly Member appealed for support from well-meaning Ghanaians to move the organisation higher in providing for the education needs for the children who are the nation’s future leaders.
