The test version of WhatsApp prepares the implementation of two-step authentication on the PC and new wallpapers for voice calls, the website WABetaInfo spotted last weekend. As yet unavailable to testers, the features do not yet have a release date.
The PC’s two-factor authentication works exactly like the feature present on the cell phone: the user can create a PIN for the account’s phone number that will be required to make new registrations — when switching devices, for example.
From the PC, as shown by the WABetaInfo captures, it will be possible to change the PIN, deactivate it or change the recovery email, just like the counterpart for the cell phone. The novelty is not only useful to make WhatsApp for Desktop more secure, but also to make life easier for those who lost their cell phone, forgot their PIN and need to deactivate the tool.

Secondly, there is the possibility to customize the call screen with your own wallpaper. According to the screenshots of the informant, instead of showing a default background for this section of the app, WhatsApp now fills it with the default chat wallpaper, suggesting the construction of the novelty.
The new customization layer was found in WhatsApp for iOS, but it is quite likely that it will arrive soon for the Android app. It is not known, however, when this will happen.
In either case, the tools under construction are not expected to be released to the general public — and of course, both can change over time. The fact is, however, that testers will be the first to try the news, so if you’re one of them, it’s good to keep an eye out for pending updates on the Play Store and App Store.
