The merger between Oppo and OnePlus resulted in greater integration between the companies’ operating systems, with the OnePlus phones’ HydrogenOS being replaced by Oppo’s ColorOS. Now a new rumor indicates that OnePlus works on UnifiedOS with an expected release for the second half of 2022.
According to information obtained by Indian website MySmartPrice, OnePlus may announce UnifiedOS based on Android 13 during the second half of this year.
It is said that the first version of the new platform should debut on a high-performance cell phone from OnePlus, defining that the OnePlus 10 line of this first half of 2022 will not have the novelty. This reinforces rumors that the OnePlus 10 Ultra will still arrive with OxygenOS in the global market, as the flagship is expected for something between the end of the second and the beginning of the third quarter.

Rumor has it that OnePlus’ unified operating system can be called H2O OS (the formula for water with two molecules of hydrogen and one of oxygen), but there is no way to know yet what nomenclature the company would have defined.
In addition, it was not commented on whether Oppo and OnePlus will bet on a purer approach to Android, similar to OxygenOS, or if they will follow a more customized line like ColorOS.
With the OnePlus 10 Pro coming to the global market in the coming months, it is unlikely that UnifiedOS or H2O OS will be implemented on the device that will launch with Android 12.
So, if the manufacturer maintains its strategy from previous years, it is possible that the new system will arrive with the OnePlus 10T line, an updated version of the OnePlus 10 series, or even with a completely new model and even more powerful than the OnePlus 10 Ultra.
