Apple launches iOS 15.4 beta 2 and prepares contactless payments –

Apple has released the second beta version of iOS 15.4 for developers and the public enrolled in the testing program. The build makes Face ID compatible with facial recognition even while wearing a mask (and without needing an Apple Watch), introduces Universal Control in iPadOS 15.4, and other important news. In addition, the second update of tvOS 15.4, watchOS 8.5 and macOS Monterey 12.3 have also been released.

In this version, the new “Tap to Pay” was activated on the iPhone. The feature for contactless payments cannot yet be used to transfer money at the machine, as it depends on the implementation of support from other manufacturers, but considering that a good part of the tool already seems to be contained in the system, it should not be long before the feature is available for experimentation.

Also in this compilation, indications were found that support for ID cards will finally come to the Wallet app. “Find out when your driver’s license or ID will be ready to use and get important updates about your ID,” reads a line of code found by developer Steve Moser.

The update is distributed to users gradually and, over time, more news should be discovered by developers. For now, there is no release date for iOS 15.4 or iPadOS 15.4 to the general public.
