Jordan Amavi releases his truths about his departure –

Loaned with option to buy until the end of the season at OGC Nice, his training club, Jordan Amavi returned to his last complicated months before his departure from Olympique de Marseille.

The passage of Jordan Amavi (27) at Olympique de Marseille remains mixed. Arrived from Aston Villa in 2017, the left-back went through a very complicated period with OM before returning to an excellent level last season. Two long consecutive injuries, to a calf then to a thigh, kept him away from the field from December until the end of the season.

Jorge Sampaoli, who replaced André Villas-Boas in February 2021, was waiting for Amavi to come back from injury to find out. The Argentinian technician had also agreed to extend his commitment with Olympique de Marseille until June 2025. However, nothing then went as planned for the 27-year-old player, who was loaned with an option purchase until the end of the season at OGC Nice, his training club. A departure he does not understand.

Amavi did not have “any” explanation with Sampaoli

“Last season, before I got hurt, I had found an excellent level, remembers the 27-year-old left-back. And then there was a change of coach, I’m taking time to get back to my level but I’m extending my contract (until 2025). In the end, I don’t play. I showed desire in training. But it was hard because I knew I was not going to play., he explained during a long interview in the columns of Nice morning.

A difficult moment for the native of Toulon, who admits not having had “any” explanation with Jorge Sampaoli, who arrived in February 2021. “I don’t want to say more. Now is not the time to talk. We’ll see all that later. For the moment, I am loaned to Nice. I want the team to perform well. Having a good second half of the season, that’s all that matters.”, he added. For the moment, Amavi is slowly coming back with the Aiglons (only two matches played) and explains that he still hasn’t decided anything for the rest of his career.
