Oppo’s 160W charger passes certification and may be sold in the future –

Oppo may soon introduce a new adapter capable of recharging batteries even faster in the future. Certifications by the Chinese regulatory body 3C confirm the existence of an accessory with a power of 160 W, but some characteristics of it are still unknown.

Identified with the code VCK8HACH, the product has a voltage of 20 V and a current of 8 A, which results in 160 W. The competitor’s 200W charger never made it to market due to concerns about battery wear.

It is not yet known which Oppo device will be able to support the 160 W offered by the charger. The next big launch of the brand should be the top-of-the-line model Find X5 Pro, but previous certifications have already shown that it will come with support for 80 W charging, and therefore it would not make much sense to make the adapter available in the box of this phone.

Therefore, it is quite likely that this new charger will only be available in a product to be revealed in the following months. Meanwhile, other brands are also striving to increase the charging speed on their phones: this is the case of Nubia, which is expected to present the Red Magic 7 with support for up to 165 W.

Even though Xiaomi’s 200W solution has not been made available, the brand has been using 120W fast charging technology since the Mi 10 Ultra launched in mid-2020. The power has already been taken even to the intermediate niche by the brand with the Redmi Note 11 Pro Plus sold in China and the Xiaomi 11i HyperCharge sold in India, expected to become popular in the coming months as the company prepares even more powerful chargers for its more expensive models.

A challenge that will have to be faced by companies that want to implement super fast charging is the battery life. In general, tanks can degrade more quickly if subjected to more extreme stresses, which can reduce charging autonomy after fewer cycles. In addition, brands also usually invest in the safety of procedures, to prevent the device from overheating and other more serious effects during the recharging process.
