Robert Pattinson has returned to talk about how different his portrayal of the Dark Knight will be in The Batman. After saying that his character won’t be as heroic as his predecessors, the actor now says his version of the character acts much more like a criminal on the streets of Gotham.
To French magazine Premiere, Pattinson explained that his Batman is someone who practically lives in the gutter and is so out of place that he only feels comfortable dressed up on the street. “He lives a criminal life, but without committing crimes,” he explains.
“I’ve taken it to myself that he spends his nights chasing criminals, so it’s impossible that he doesn’t like that. He suffers and that’s a desire that dominates him. When punching someone, his mind empties and he calms down, almost reaching a state I’m sure, in his struggles, he convinces himself that every guy in front of him is the one who killed his mother and that allows him to take out all his anger”.
This very particular take on Batman is something that, according to Pattinson, is unlike anything we’ve seen in the movies. According to the actor, in relation to the hero’s moral code of never killing, this can be interpreted in two ways.
